The Burke Foundation is pleased to announce new staff members: Renée Nogales and Ann Ritter have joined on as Program Officers and Arielle Lawson has joined as a Princeton University P55 Fellow. The Burke Foundation is committed to funding programs and initiatives that support the healthy development of children and families in New Jersey, particularly those from under-resourced communities.
Renée Nogales will be responsible for stewarding the organization’s Maternal Child Health programs helping to increase prenatal and postnatal support for pregnant women, improve infant and parental health, and reduce parental stress by connecting families to important community resources.
Before her time with the Burke Foundation, Renée served as Principal of Early Childhood Partnerships at LENA where she helped scale innovative early language programs for the parents, caregivers and educators of young children. For over a decade, she shepherded the development, implementation, and sustainability of an evidence-based maternal and child home visiting model in the Northeast. Renée spent several years at Mathematica Policy Research where she primarily worked on various federal and state evaluations of early childhood and nutrition programs. She is a graduate of Haverford College and earned her Master’s Degree from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, University of Texas at Austin.
Ann Ritter will manage the NJ ACEs Collaborative and Quality Early Care and Learning initiatives. Ann has extensive experience working with nonprofit organizations to launch and grow new programs. She previously held multiple policy, development and grantmaking positions at national and regional organizations, including Susan G. Komen Philadelphia and the National Nurse-Led Care Consortium. Ann received her B.A. with distinction from Yale University. She earned her J.D. from Temple University, where she received the Rubin-Presser Public Interest Scholarship and the Rita S. Levine Memorial Award for Public Service. Ann received her M.P.H. from George Washington University.
As Burke’s Program and Policy Fellow, Arielle Lawson will work to support the organization’s overall grantmaking, policy, and communications activities. Arielle graduated with honors from Princeton University with a degree in Philosophy and is working towards becoming a pediatrician and a public health advocate for disadvantaged populations, particularly children who have experienced significant adversity.
